our Impact / Lokahi Global Exchange

An immersive programme to transform your work

Empowering civil society actors who work with religion to solve ‘wicked problems’.

Lokahi Global Exchanges bring together people from different countries, genders, ages, and faith backgrounds for an immersive, week-long programme based around a central theme or problematic. Unlike a traditional conference or training event, it combines peer mentoring with expert input and vivid, hands-on experiences. We carefully select the location, ensuring that its rich in relevant case studies and sources of inspiration for our participants’ projects.

Our first Lokahi Global Exchanges were held in the UK and Lebanon in 2018 and 2019, with sessions including:

-        Visits to local sites, neighbourhoods, and projects

-        A Project design lab, helping participants refine a specific project idea during the programme

-        Training sessions on technology, media, and communications

-        Individual peer mentoring and coaching

Participants leave with a broadened perspective, practical skills they need to take their work to the next level, and clear next steps on how to put their project ideas into practice. More than that, they leave with friends they’ve made for life: the Lokahi ‘Ohana.

The LGEs emerged from an EU-funded research project, where we provided recommendations on how to create an exchange platform for religion and social inclusion. For more information on this, including evaluation of the first LGE events, click here to read the report.
